About Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a type of ‘talking therapy’ that also utilises trance (hypnosis). It combines therapeutic discussions, (psychotherapy) with guided relaxation that can help the brain to consolidate new ideas or information. Hypnosis is a way of replicating a natural process that our brains go through every day, which allows our minds to focus on specific things. This can help you to change old unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving, so that you have more control over your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

What’s involved in a hypnotherapy session?

During a typical session, the first half will involve discussion & promotion of new ideas and the second half will involve encouraging a relaxed trance state. Trace is a normal, natural state that we all experience to varying degrees on a daily basis. You are in control at all times, and it’s simply an opportunity for your mind to relax, consolidate and to reflect on what we have discussed and how that can help you.


I combine my psychological expertise with modern Solution Focused Hypnotherapy that concentrates on finding solutions to problems instead of focusing on the cause of issues. Using a variety of techniques, including CBT and NLP, I’ll help you to focus on what it is you really want, to set goals and find solutions that help you build the future you want.

Remember, hypnotherapy is not something that is ‘done’ to you – it is something that you participate in. It is a collaborative process and it is important that clients are prepared to take the necessary steps to allow changes to happen.
